Shattered

I lie down at night

On a bed of barbed wire

My mind is shattered glass

I move and I’m pierced

Pinched

Pricked

I’m wailing in the darkness

Which veils me

The night comforts me

Telling me, scream as loud as you want

Scream before day breaks

Because light will break in

It will veil my wails

And meld the shattered glass

Into a delicate web

Woven with subdued screams

Until I return to lie down

And am shattered again
